2Pac was born in New York City in 1971. His father Afeni Shakur, was a member of the Black Panther Party at the time. 2Pac, who also recorded under the alias Makaveli, had one of the most interesting and unfortunate careers in hiphop. With 2pac, you either hated him or loved him. Many people on the east coast despised him for leaving and joining the west coast scene. He was murdered in his car on September 7, 1996 on the Las Vegas strip. The murder is still unsolved to this day. Two years prior to his murder he was shot at 5 times on his way to a recording studio in New York City. This in part prompted his move to California.
2Pac has also starred and appeared in several
movies, including Poetic Justice, Above the Rim, Gridlock'd, Juice,
and Gang Related. His music career started out as a roadie/dancer/rapper
for Digital Underground in 1990.
